I’m Emma Cardwell, and I just graduated from Davidson with a degree in German Studies and English! After taking Dr. Ellis’ Austria 1900-Now class, I’m stoked to explore the city we’ve been ruminating on all semester. I’m looking forward to checking out the architecture of the Fin-de-Siecle and Secession. The Leopold Museum showcasing the works of Klimt is also calling my name. After studying in Berlin for six months last spring, I relish rooting myself in any German-speaking country, finding my way around and getting to know the local culture and cuisine. After reading German with the Austrian dialect in the works of Schnitzler and others, I’m also excited to try-on the unique accent of 2017 Vienna!
