EJ Canny, Class of 2019
Havertown, PA
History Major
I’ve had a strong interest in international politics and the refugee crisis in Europe since I participated in Model United Nations in high school. Professor Ceka’s West European Politics course this semester reignited my interest in these pivotal issues. I’m thrilled to be going to Vienna for this study trip and look forward to learning as much as possible from this opportunity. As a student of German at Davidson College, I hope to be able to use my German to get more out of museums in Vienna and also am looking forward to the opportunity to practice it in a city where it is the spoken language.
Outside of this trip, I am a History major with a primary focus on European history from the late 18th Century to the present and I will be studying abroad in Cambridge over the Summer and Berlin in the Fall to help work towards my major and (probable) German Studies minor. In addition to appearing in terrible pictures at Davidson College, I play French horn in the Davidson College Symphony Orchestra, mellophone in the Davidson College Pep Band, and am a member of the Davidson College Democrats. I look forward to the trip to Vienna and applying what I learn to future courses!
